Types of Activities We Support
Charitable Grants are provided in response to certain unsolicited requests for financial support to further patient education, disease awareness, or other philanthropic causes that ultimately benefit patients or the community and that are without influence or control from United Therapeutics.
Requests are considered from bona fide, independent, third-party charitable organizations with tax-exempt status.
Patient Financial Assistance Charity Grants are provided to bona fide, independent, non-profit organizations that provide disease-based financial assistance for co-payments and other out-of-pocket expenses to patients.
Independent patient financial assistance charities receiving financial assistance from United Therapeutics must operate as either a Public Charity or a Private Foundation pursuant to Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Sections 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1-3), respectively.
Such charities also must have a current favorable advisory opinion from OIG and must certify that they are following the terms of that current advisory opinion.
Corporate sponsorships are provided to national medical societies, national patient organizations, or similar major healthcare-related entities where patients or a combination of patients and HCPs are in attendance.
In exchange, United Therapeutics receives direct tangible benefits such as corporate recognition, advertising, banners, signage, booth space and conference registration at a medical congress, society meeting, or similar event.
Community Funding is provided for initiatives or programs that encompass a wide range of projects, including those related to specific diseases or conditions. The primary focus of community funding is to engage the public to promote broader awareness and participation.
United Therapeutics receives direct tangible benefits such as corporate recognition, advertising, banners, signage, booth space and conference registration at a medical congress, society meeting, or similar event.
Donations are provided for initiatives or programs that target projects with broader objectives, such as public health awareness campaigns, community outreach initiatives, or research endeavors that explore general healthcare trends or system improvements.
United Therapeutics does not receive direct or tangible benefits from this request.
Promotional Exhibits are provided to a local or regional hospital, academic center, medical society, or patient organization in exchange for exhibit space. The exhibit space is then used for promotional materials, such as brochures and tabletop display, and is staffed by United Therapeutics Commercial Personnel.
Promotional Exhibits do not include funding for Commercial Sponsorships or Scientific Sponsorships and Exhibits.
